Welcome to our newest page and newest project! Understanding Islam. For the next year, you’ll be able to follow a weekly podcast and study notes as we walk through a careful analysis of the fundamentals of Islam, presented from a Biblical perspective. This course, offered at Huntsville Alabama's First Baptist Church, carries you through a year-long study of Islam and an understanding of Muslims worldwide. Steven Covey has stated that one of the traits of highly successful people is that they seek to understand before they are understood. In that context, our course equips you to share your faith with Muslims and develop a relationship with Muslims whom you encounter in your work or neighborhood by understanding them better, and understanding the fundamentals of Islam. This course, updated weekly, will begin with an overview of the history of Qur'an, Muhammad, and the foundations of Islam. From there, we will dive into what the Qur'an teaches about women, faith, death, heaven, holy war, and faith. A third segment of the course, beginning in the spring, carries us through an understanding of the growth of Islam around the world. A final segment will help us apply this course to our daily lives, with discussions of evangelism in Islamic countries, sharing your faith with a Muslim, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a possible war with Iran. The class schedule provides a summary of each week's study. You can find an audio file for each class and supporting class notes.
